Edgy 3 Points For Boro

HARINGEY Borough today picked up their 9th league win of the season by defeating St Lawrence 7-4 at their Chase Lodge home. However in typical 'make life hard' fashion; instead of coming from behind just the once, Boro had to come from behind twice to pick up the win against bottom of the league opposition.

In truth this should have been a comfortable win, but it turned out to be anything but. Within 10 minutes debutant Alex Vasconcellos re-injured his ankle, making way for returning Mansur Sa'asu in a reshuffled line up. A poor start to the game led to 3 St Lawrence attackers lining up to shoot at a stranded Costas Phouphoullides to make it 1-0; although it must be mentioned that Lawrence Hayes had already seen an effort hit the inside of the post by this time. Haringey managed to get in 2-1 up at half-time through Harly Smee and Lawrence Hayes strikes. However stern words at half-time failed to have the desired impact as again Boro defended feebly, allowing St Lawrence to not only draw level but regain the lead!

At 3-2 down captain Chinua Phinn-Archer picked up a serious ankle injury and was replaced by an impressive Vinny WIlls. Manager Rakatahr Hudson then felt it necessary to bring on long term injured Riccardo Wickham, where another week's rest would have been a more ideal solution. However these changes had the desired effect as stand-in captain Hayes scored a penalty and Wickham and Smee both scored 2 each, giving Smee his hatrick.

A final score of 7-4 and 3 points in the bag are consolation for Haringey who will look to improve on their performance when they face the same opposition in the return fixture next week.

Line Up: Phouphoullides, Sheikh, Vasconcellos (Sa'adu), Phinn-Archer (Wills), Bonket, Espana, Christodoulou, Angel, Vickerstaff (Wickham), Hayes, Smee.
