Boro Progress to League Cup Semi

Haringey Borough scored in the 3rd of 6 injury time minutes to beat St Joseph's 3-2 and secure a semi-final with London Tigers. At the start of play Haringey were without Wickham, Smee, Phinn-Archer, Fontanini and Bonket. However the players who came in put in a good display and the game should really have been more comfortable then it actually turned out.

Boro went 1-0 up when Espana hit a cracker onto the underside of the crossbar and into the goal from 20 yards; the ball did then bounce back out where Smith tucked away the rebound to make sure, however Espana will claim it. St Joseph's then equalised against the run of play with a solitary attack. A lovely move was then finished with a neat header by Christodoulou for the Greens to retake the lead. Again Haringey were pegged back against the run of play, leaving a tense last 20 minutes. Boro looked fitter and stronger, however St Joseph's had 1 or 2 chances to snatch it at the end. But deep into injury time Haringey scored a deserved goal through a deflected shot from Smith, his first goal for the club, to avoid extra time and win the tie.

Team: Phouphoullides, Shiekh, Vasconcellos (Bonket 80th), Martin, Angel, Espana, Christodoulou, Williams-Dinning, Vickerstaff (Sa'Adu 60th), Hayes, Smith (Wills 80th)

Haringey U16s face an early kick off this coming weekend with a 10:30am kick off in an important league fixture.
