Match Report
Haringey Borough U16s won the Harrow Youth League title on Sunday with a 2-2 draw against title rivals Wealdstone. In what is their first season together the team secured the championship with a superb record of thirteen wins, two draws and no defeats.

Haringey went into the game knowing that a draw would be enough; Wealdstone likewise knew that they had to win to stand any chance of clawing back the ten point gap. After 15 minutes the Stones took the lead after some sloppy defensive play, however as the first half went on Haringey started to dominate and deservedly equalized through a sharp turn and finish in the six yard box from Kieren Smith.

In the second half Haringey picked up where they left off and, after missing a host of clear chances, took the lead for the first time in the match again through Smith, this time powering clear of the defenders before slotting through the Wealdstone keepers’ legs. Although Haringey were in control, the battling Wealdstone team managed to equalize against the run of play with ten minutes remaining to set up a tense finish. In this period both sides had chances to win the game and, although an amazing 6 minutes of injury time were added by the referee, Haringey achieved the necessary result.

Haringey Borough are also in the League Cup Semi final with a home tie against London Tigers and the possibility of a league and cup double still very much alive.
